Boston Compost Site

City Soil, in partnership with Casella Organics, is proud to manage the City of Boston Compost Site, processing our neighborhoods' leaves into compost for use in community gardens and sale to residents and local organizations and businesses.

City Soil was awarded custody of Boston's yard waste compost site in December 2012. Work began immediately to improve and expand the site. Our team cleaned up tons of trash, installed natural stormwater management measures to protect the Canterbury Brook and used leftover material to build a buffer berm along American Legion Highway. We built a fresh compost pad with upcycled asphalt grindings, enabling the clean and efficient processing of some 8,500 cubic yards of leaves, grass clippings and Christmas trees. This spring we delivered hundreds of yards of compost to Boston's community gardens.
